The Dresdner Bank

The Dresdner Bank is situated on the other side of the Platz and closer to the Brandenburg Gate. It is a completely modern structure. The word 'bank' is somewhat deceiving - it is a corporate headquarters, not an every day bank. It makes an excellent attempt at opening its doors to the public by having various art shows and galleries on display on the ground floor. But it is a headquarters, where business transactions take place and large investment decisions are made. Its goal in being located on Pariser Platz is the exposure it will have to high profile potential investors. The inside is an open circle surrounded by five floors of offices enclosed by glass walls. The roof is also windowed creating a naturally lit warm internal space. The building also has constructed special shutters on the outside widows to maximize natural light.
