Why a Return to the Forms of the Thirties?

What is it about the thirties that Berliners find so wonderful that they want to return Pariser Platz to the way it looked before it was destroyed in World War II? Does Pariser Platz have the same meaning that it had then? Is a return to the snobbery of the thirties appropriate for the platz surrounding the most powerful national symbol in Berlin and possibly all of Germany. Pariser Platz has never been in one form for long and there is no way to say what is the "right" way for it to look. One can't look at a specific time period and say this was the real Pariser Platz. The only thing that has remained constant is the shape of the platz and the Brandenburg Gate's commanding position.
