The following is from a tape-recorded interview the day of the visit. -Have you ever visited a concentration camp before? Yes. I've visited Buchenwald twice. -What are your expectations of the visit today? I'm looking forward to seeing how our group reacts. I'm pretty sure I know how I will react. There's some emotions that come out in the crematorium, when you go into the part where they did the medical experiments, where you look out and see a picture of the pile of bodies and you realize that that pile was right outside the window where you're standing. And there's some really strong emotions. I don't have a lot of emotion in general, but in these kind of circumstances.... I'm more interested in seeing how we deal with it, at least this time. The first time, it was just something I had to see for myself. Buchenwald you really don't get a good feel for because most of it is [gone]. >>
