The following is from a tape-recorded interview the day of the visit. -Have you ever visited a concentration camp before? Yes. I visited Sachsenhausen three years ago. -What are your expectations of the visit today? I imagine it's going to be a lot like Sachsenhausen. I have this picture of Sachsenhausen in my mind right now. I sort of expect a lot of the things I saw at Sachsenhausen to be like Buchenwald. So, I really just want to get a closer look this time. When I went three years ago, I wasn't all that thrilled about going. I just wanted to get out, but today I'm trying to go with more of an open mind. I'm going to try to look at things more and try to understand a little bit more about what actually happened. -What do you think the purposes of concentration camp visits are? Well, for myself, I think they just let people see where these people actually died. I guess it just shows people the horror of people being put into ovens and into gas chambers, and you get to see it. >>
