-Have you ever visited a concentration camp before?
I've visited both Buchenwald (summer '96) and Dachau (spring '97).
-What are your feelings right now about going to Buchenwald? Why?
I'm looking forward to revisiting with a more learned eye--I've read tons more literature and expect to have a richer, if somewhat more cynical experience.
-What purpose(s) do you think a concentration camp visit serve(s)?
A grieving site for those who want to pay their respects to the victims of Nazi Germany who were left without graves. A place of memory--one which should inspire active and continued memory after a person leaves. A place of knowledge and education and history in hopes of reminding people of the need to remain stalwart against horrors and never allow anything of its kind to occur again.
