-How do you feel our visit to Buchenwald compared to our visits of
Holocaust memorials in Berlin? What are the differences between a camp and
memorials?
Memorials elicit a different reaction than the actual camp visits do.
Memorials may be at the site of something (like the Schöneberg signs) but
the camps are just different. Personally, the memorials didn't really make
me feel in any particular way. I was basically just interested by the
Schöneberg signs; they didn't make me feel any differently than normal.
-Did you feel the compulsion to feel a certain way at this visit? Do you
think others in the group felt that way?
I really didn't feel that I needed to feel any particular way. I don't
think that anyone had any compulsions to feel or anything.
