Surf the web with a partner. Find five web sites in/on Berlin (or Germany) about which you feel strongly and think about what they are doing. Consider the some of the following questions:

What do you find particularly effective about them? Ineffective? What information are they trying to convey? What perspective? How do graphics interact with texts? What forms of representation does the site rely on? In what ways does the site succeed in its intentions? In what ways does the site work against itself? What roles are you as viewer asked to take on? A passive one that is asked to consume information? An exploratory one in which you must engage actively with the site? What other possible roles might the viewer assume?

With your partner write one paragraph for each site that considers and addresses some, if not all, of these questions. Be sure to include the site's address. Your paragraphs will be posted on the web site.
