After barely surviving a second year of German language courses, I trekked back to Germany alone to find work (if you want to try and attain a student work-visa, try COUNCIL). I landed in Hamburg, living in an apartment, and working as Stock Manager of the world's second largest Foot Locker. Before traveling back to Vassar, I once again made a visit to Nordhausen. This time, I stayed for more than four hours, and had the chance to spend two days in the town archives and meet with the former mayor of the town who also wrote a book titled "The Persecution of the Nordhausen Jews." I am still sorting through my notes in hopes of tracking down family members (and my mother is going to kick my rear if I don't hurry up).
