:: Art from the George Duplessy Estate ::

George A. Duplessy (1936 - 2000) was born in Cavallion, Haiti. Raised in Port-au-Prince, he attended Lyce Toussaint L'ouverture School (High School). Duplessy owned and curated an art gallery in the landmark Port-au-Prince hotel, the Hotel Oloffson.

Hotel Oloffson has drawn art connoisseurs, tourists, and all manner of high profile guests and visitors for decades. The hotel featured prominently in Graham Greene's classic, "The Comedians". Duplessy's interest in art ranged not only in his professional career but also in his personal hobby as an artist.

The Duplessy artwork collection includes works by over 30 artists. A selection of these works is featured on this website. For further information, please email us at haitiproject@vassar.edu.
