:: Art from the Linda Morse Estate ::

Linda Morse (1950 - 2006) worked for USAID for nearly 30 years, during which time she created and coordinated complex international development programs in Asia, North Africa, Eastern Europe, Latin America, and in the 1970's in Haiti.   Linda was passionate about her care for the world. She was the recipient of the Distinguished Career Service Award, the highest USAID award for distinguished leadership, strong management, technical excellence and tireless dedication in international development, making a difference to the lives of men, women and children around the world.

Linda Morse was recognized for her management of major disaster response efforts in the wake of typhoons and volcanic eruptions; her leadership on HIV/AIDS; her role in advancing democracy and justice in Eastern Europe; her success in expanding access to reproductive health services in Morocco and India; and for her efforts to promote democracy in Haiti.

The Vassar Haiti Project is the grateful beneficiary of some 30 pieces of Haitian paintings and handcrafts that were purchased by Linda Morse during her tour of duty in Haiti. Her family has shared with us Linda's profound commitment to improving access to education. We offer a few of her paintings, sequined flags and handcrafts at this year's auction and sale. Each year, we will offer additional works of art from her collection.

We acknowledge Linda's brother Jerry and his wife Bea for their dedication to the glowing legacy Linda left behind.
