Outreach Committee

Project Manager: Caitlyn Anderson '12 and Fiona Koch '12

As the Project Chairs to the Outreach Committee, we are in charge of spreading the word about the Haiti Project beyond Vassar's borders. We connect with local schools, organizations and associations to raise awareness about the various initiatives of the Vassar Haiti Project.

This semester, we are planning to work especially closely with art departments in middle and high schools, to develop a "Haitian Art" unit to teach classes. This initiative will allow us to raise awareness, and will give these schools the option of taking it to a fund-raising level if they want to. We are continuing our relationship with Poughkeepsie city schools, Spackenkill High School (Youth Against Racism), Arlington High School (Club Action) and Haldane High School in Garrison, NY. We enjoy building and maintaining relationships with schools and organizations and sharing about the joys and challenges of the Haitian people.
