Description
of Research |
For the past ten years, Dr. Bermudez has been examining the fundamental role of lookahead in syntax analyzers. He has discovered that lookahead computation can be parallelized quite cleanly, that there is a natural progression of techniques that can be attempted on a given grammar, and that certain fundamental relations govern most of the lookahead computation process. He has formulated these relations, studied them, and formulated efficient algorithms that capitalize on them. Recently, Dr. Bermudez has begun working on using these relations effectively to formulate systax analyzers in other areas of Computer Science, such as Visual Languages and Pattern Recognition. |
