Description of Research
Dr. Diaz' research efforts are focused on advanced nuclear space power and propulsion technology and systems. As Director of the Innovative Nuclear Space Power & Propulsion Institute, he leads industry/university/national labs research and development on investigation, experimental, computational and theoretical ultrahigh temperature processes (above 1500K) with and without nuclear fission effects. Advanced energy conversion systems are under study, including high temperature thermionics and magneto-hydro-dynamics generators. A joint program on fuels and materials is being conducted with the Research Institute of NPO LUTCH, Russia, jointly with U. S. aerospace companies.
