Description
of Research |
A research program is being conducted under NASA sponsorship to experimentally investigate the interaction of a shock wave with homogeneous and isotropic turbulence. Specifically, the program focuses on the phenomenon of turbulence amplification in the vorticity mode by a moving shock wave propagating inside the flow. The experiments are being conducted in a new 12 in. dia. shock-tube facility and will cover interactions with relative Mach number 1.5 to 4.5. |
