| Dr. Barnes is interested in interior point methods for solving linear programming problems. These methods involve approximating the linear programming polytope by an ellipsoid. The ellipsoid approximation technique has a wide range of applications. He has used it to solve problems in statistics, numerical linear algebra, and in combinatorial optimization. | |||
