Description
of Research |
Dr. Ruffin is a specialist in airframe propulsion integration and in high temperature gas dynamics. He is conducting research on high speed, high temperature flows in which thermal and chemical non-equilibrium exits. Dr. Ruffin has developed a novel thermo-chemical model which provides improved predictions in these types of flows. Accurate predictions are essential to achieve optimal engine and aerodynamic performance and for design of thermal protection systems for supersonic and hypersonic aircraft. A major goal of this research is to apply technologies developed for high speed aerospace flows to non-aerospace power generation systems and to emissions studies of industrial facilities. |
