| Description of Research | |||
| In research on Robust 3D Object Recognition using Uncertain 2D Image Data, Dr. Camps' goal is aimed at making 3D object recognition systems using 2D image data robust in the presence of uncertainty. Specifically, two objectives are being pursued: 1) Theoretical development of robust models for 2D image data; and 2) Development of robust procedures to select the most likely view class, and to compute the most accurate pose of an object. The promise of this effort is evidenced by the preliminary results that she has already obtained: * A Bayesian framework to determine the correct view class of an object (IEEE CVPR 1993). * A robust algorithm to select the next feature to be matched in an object recognition system such that the effect of the data uncertainty in the estimated pose is minimized (IEE CVPR 1994). |
