Description
of Research |
Robin Coger directs the Biomaterials Laboratory at the Cameron Applied Research Center on the UNC Charlotte campus. Within our laboratory we design new devices, and characterize and model materials employed in biomedical engineering applications. Consequently, we are able to analyze material behavior and use the information to predict and test their performance under clinically relevant conditions. Material characterization is completed using new devices in conjunction with microscopy (light, video, cryo-, fluorescence, and polarization), image analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, metrology, and rheology. The two impact areas of our research are tissue engineering and cryopreservation. Through our work we seek to increase the number of replacement strategies available to patients in need of organ transplants. |
