Description of Research
Processing and characterization of porous materials for bulk and thin film applications. Optical and dielectric properties of porous materials and heterostructures. Have worked with

Si and SiO2 and oxides of the fluorite structure, ferroelectric and superconducting perovskites, nickel-base superalloys, wide band gap semiconductors and ceramic-ceramic composites.

Interested in developing microstructure/property relationships in all classes of materials including metals, ceramics, polymers, semiconductors and composite materials. Usage of dielectric and impedance spectroscopy for monitoring microstructural homogeneity, microstructural changes, mechanical degradation and environmental degradation at all length scales, from the atomic defect level to macroscopic dimensions.
