Pure cabaret of the 1920's consited of a small, intimate performance hall
where performers sang satirical songs dealing with socio-political issues
such as sex, feminism, homosexuality, and race, and also commented freely
on the shortcomings of the current government.
"The more the political situation became embroiled, the more the public sought light entertainment and diversion in cabaret."
-Laurence Senelick
