The Brandenburg Gate is a very important historical site not only for the Berlin community, but also for the world community. We have been left with images in our mind ranging from Hitler's festival of lights which signaled the beginning of a period of destruction and separation, to people dancing on the wall on the West side to mark the beginning of a new free and peaceful period for all Germans. An immediate question Germany was faced with after the fall of the wall was what to do with space on the East side of the Gate - Pariser Platz.
Scale model of Pariser Platz, c. 1930.
