The Hotel is a beautiful combination of old and modern at the same time. When the Hotel was rebuilt, the intention was to combine old with new. The "Press Release" gave insight into many of the concepts of the hotel, along with its history [History] [Facts] [Prices] [Hotel Adlon Link]. The goal was to keep the old feeling of the Hotel, but make it the most modern hotel available. From the outside, the facade is the same as the original. On the inside, the little things have been kept (the dial in the elevator is a replica of the original). In each room the modernity is felt. The designers paid attention to the smallest details in the rooms, including hypoallergenic pillows, rounded edges on all fixtures to minimize dust, portable phones for all guests for use within the hotel, electronic key system that automatically turns on lights, air-conditioning, and music, private fax machine, and vibraphones (as opposed to pagers). When the hotel first opened in 1907, it attracted world business and political leaders. Naturally, embassies 'sprang-up' near the hotel. Today one could say that it is the Titanic of hotels.
