Welcome! We are a new academic web journal for the Vassar community. We publish exceptional student course work recommended by faculty and screened through an editorial board comprised of students representing a variety of disciplines.

We established the journal to promote appreciation for the ideas being generated daily within our vibrant community. The journal would like to both celebrate and reflect back to the campus a sample of what it means to be a Vassar student. We take an interdisciplinary approach understanding that many students here choose a liberal arts education precisely for the variety and interconnectedness it provides. We believe the web-like nature of electronic media serves as an excellent format to unify the diversity of our academic interests.

Our introductory issue reflects a sampling of the submissions we received. Because our project is new, we did not receive the variety of work we would have liked. Eventually, we hope to also include short films, musical compositions and visual artwork alongside our analytic and scientific written work. If you would like to learn more about how or why we are here please refer to the "About Us" link on the navigation bar.

"With the power of music, they convey her to the very center of creation at which dualities cease to exist, and only love prevails. Their song lulls her into a state of receptiveness which will allow her to become a conduit of this love for the phenomenal world."
Lauren Hauptman

"The trick olestra performs is that the body thinks that it is eating fat instead of this fat substitute. Since the taste buds believe they are tasting fat, the body feels very satisfied."
Eliza Small

"A literature is not made out of words (e.g., Music as a Literature) but it is necessarily composed of texts."
Andrew Mattison
